First Tuesday Meal of the Month
Every day thereafter until we run out
We distribute the food that was picked up from the various stores that day; we pick up from Food Lion and WaWa every day. We also pick up from Trader Joes, Panera, or Ft. Eustis Commissary depending on the day. We put out the perishable foods: fruits, vegetables, breads, pastries and dairy items as well as some frozen items we receive that day. Sometimes we receive things we were not expecting; we let the people know about changes via Facebook. It is unusual for meat to be distributed at this distribution. BUT if we are going to distribute meat we will announce it onFaceBook.
We serve the Hungry of the Virginia Peninsula but pre-qualify everyone using the USDA TEFAP (The Emergency Food Assistance Program) guidelines. If you fail to qualify, we will not deny you food but will speak with you individually regarding your specific situation.
The first Tuesday of the month is when we distribute USDA foods and meat. Even if you do not make the first Tuesday of the month, all Clients will receive USDA their first time visiting us until we run out of USDA foods. After the USDA distribution you will receive dry and can foods as well as meat to help with three (3) meals. We are always closed the Fifth Tuesday of the month.
We also serve a hot meal to you and your family.

The USDA program is a way for agencies to provide healthy, nutritious products to needy families. The USDA purchases food from vendors in bulk, including processing and packaging, and distributes that food to States across the country. Those States, in turn, disburse that food to Foodbanks. Our Foodbank provides USDA products to agencies so that they can distribute said products at the local level. The amount of food received by each State depends on the State’s low-income and unemployed population. This program specifically targets low-income families and individuals through eligibility requirements which ensure that their income is below the poverty level. Recipients can only receive USDA once per month.
